Circle Meetings
We meet at Sketty Park Community Centre, at the junction of Park Way and Heather Crescent in Swansea (post-code SA2 8HE) each Wednesday evening at 7.00pm.
We practice playing solo, in duos, trios, quartets and as a group. There is an ensemble for beginners and a larger ensemble for more experienced players. Members take part in whatever type of playing they choose, catering for all levels.
Our Leader - Sylvia Barker
Sylvia Barker-de Boer is our leader and is an accomplished teacher of the guitar.
Sylvia studied the guitar in the Netherlands gaining a BMus for Teaching Music. Since living in Wales she has taken part in masterclasses with John Mills, Berta Rojas, Gary Ryan, Craig Ogden, Xuefei Yang and David Russell
Sylvia leads our two guitar ensembles and has helped put Swansea firmly on the international classical guitar map.
Our President- John Mills
Our Honorary President is John Mills - perhaps best known for teaching generations of guitarists at the RCM and RAM in London and at the RWCMD in Cardiff, from which he is now retired.
He has played as a soloist in over 25 countries and continues to tour, perform, record and premiere new works.
